Esther’s Cajun Cafe | Esther comes from a long history of talented cooks, so it’s no surprise that she carries on the family heritage. Mary Lewis, Esther’s great-grandmother, took immense satisfaction in subsisting off the land and earned a reputation as the undisputed queen of country-style cookery. Gladiola Lewis, Esther’s mother, became an accomplished cook specializing in Cajun-style dishes. Momma Lewis and her daughter Mary Lewis were strong believers in the need of sharing their family recipes with subsequent generations.
Esther had a lot of criticism as she was growing up, but she never allowed anything deter her from pursuing the aspirations she had. Her one and only goal in life was to start her own business, but making outstanding Cajun Soul Food was something that was deeply ingrained in her.
