Fanm Djanm which translates as “strong woman” in Haitian Kreyol, was started by Paola Mathé in 2014 as a small collection of eight head wraps that she sold out of her apartment on the weekends. Fanm Djanm has evolved into a lifestyle brand and headwrap collection that values sustainability, connects with its community, and encourages and equips women to live fearlessly. Carefully curated fabrics, hand-sewn items, and cultural reflections encourage women all over the world to wear prints with confidence, speak their minds, laugh out loud, and go after their dreams.
Fanm Djanm has expanded over the years, but the company is still proud of its zero waste philosophy and the fact that each head wrap is made by hand in Austin, Texas. When possible, Fanm Djanm sources all fabrics, dyes, etc. from different African countries by hand, in addition to supporting worldwide wholesalers.
