LitBodies Decor | We are committed to advancing equitable design in home décor and other fields, and our studio is led by women. We accomplish this by purposefully selecting goods that reflect historically marginalized communities. With our designs, we hope to not only improve the visual appeal of areas but also foster community, connection, and meaningful dialogue.

When you consider the gap between the retail floor and the boardrooms across businesses, it is easy to see how the lack of inclusion in most industries is caused by DESIGN and how it influences the kinds of products that are developed, financed, supported, and marketed. The status quo will remain in place if what is produced is by an unrepresentative population until there is a conscious attempt to change it.

As a result, we give egalitarian design top priority. Everyone who interacts with our brand feels recognized, SEEN, and appreciated thanks to our distinct viewpoint and persistent commitment to the needs of the communities we serve.

The dean of design at the Ontario College of Art & Design University, Dori Tunstall, told Eliza Martin in her August 20, 2020 article, Inside the Design Industry’s Diversity Problem, that one of the main reasons BIPOCs are excluded from the design industry is because design has historically been a tool used to oppress and harm marginalized communities. “If you begin to dig—from the ads you’ve seen, to the items you own, to all the tools that were used to take Black people’s labor—those were intentional.”
