Self-taught actor and artist Calvin Clausell Jr. is known for his large-scale photorealistic oil paintings on wood panel. He learned how to shade by studying facial expressions and emotions.
He first tried oil painting in 2016, and ever since then he’s been refining his approach. He uses film photography to bring his subjects to life on wood. His first international solo show will be in 2022 in Capri, Italy. For his first solo show in his hometown of Los Angeles, he has been working on a new series dubbed BLOOM. the similarities between human life and natural life are emphasized.
