Every bite of a Sister Honey’s creation is more than just a treat—it’s a tribute. It’s a taste of a lifelong legacy built on unwavering warmth, genuine care, and the simple, profound joy of homemade baking. Our story begins not in a commercial kitchen, but in the heart of a home, shaped by the woman who inspired it all: Sister Honey.
She was affectionately given the nickname ‘Honey’ by her family when she was a small child, a nod to her naturally sweet and gentle demeanor. As she grew into a young adult, her deep faith and giving spirit earned her the affectionate title ‘Sister Honey’ among her church community.
Later in life, she was a woman whose presence radiated warmth. She possessed an infectious smile and spoke with an eloquent, comforting grace. Her signature greeting—delivered with genuine, loving care—was always, “Hello, my darling. How are you?”
This same boundless love and meticulous care was the secret ingredient she poured into everything she baked for her family, friends, and community. For Sister Honey, baking was an act of profound hospitality and love.
It was this passion—this devotion to the craft—that she lovingly passed on to her eldest daughter, Evette.
Evette remembers being completely mesmerized by the activity in the kitchen. As a child, tied to her mother’s apron strings, the kitchen was undeniably her favorite place in the world. She didn’t just watch; she learned. Side-by-side, Sister Honey and Evette would spend cherished time together, fondly flipping through the worn pages of cookbooks and eagerly watching the original culinary pioneers on television, like The French Chef with Julia Child and The Galloping Gourmet with Graham Kerr. These moments formed the bedrock of a lifelong culinary passion.
That childhood fascination for cooking and baking later blossomed into a celebrated national career for Evette. Her dedication to premium, classic recipes culminated in spectacular competitive success:
In 2006, Evette entered the prestigious National Pie Championships and was immediately recognized, receiving the coveted Blue Ribbon for her outstanding Orchard Fresh Apple Pie. This was just the beginning.
Since then, she has accumulated multiple ribbons and accolades, sharing her expertise and recipes across the country. Evette has been:
Evette often reflects on the lessons learned from her mother. “Every day I honor my mother, Sister Honey, by continuing the legacy of great baking,” she says.
