The New Classic: Unpacking the World of Blackstock & Weber

In the vibrant landscape of menswear, few brands have managed to disrupt the status quo while honoring tradition quite like Blackstock & Weber. Founded in 2017 by the visionary Chris Echevarria, this Brooklyn-based fashion and lifestyle brand is a powerful statement on the intersection of heritage, craftsmanship, and a forward-thinking aesthetic. It’s a brand that has redefined a classic staple—the loafer—and in doing so, has built a legacy that is unapologetically its own.

Chris Echevarria’s journey to founding Blackstock & Weber is as unique as his designs. A native of Brooklyn and a graduate of the prestigious menswear program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Chris’s love affair with fashion began long before he entered the industry. He recalls learning to read from the pages of his mother’s fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, a childhood experience that instilled in him an innate appreciation for style and a discerning eye for detail. This passion, combined with a natural entrepreneurial spirit—evident from his days running a sneaker resale business in college—laid the groundwork for the brand to come.

The Loafer, Reimagined

At its core, Blackstock & Weber is a brand with a mission: to make the loafer as versatile and essential as a sneaker. This “free thinking approach” takes inspiration from a wide array of sources—from music and culture to art and photography—and applies them to modern objects with a grounded appreciation for traditional menswear. The result is a shoe that is both a nod to the past and a step into the future.

Handcrafted in England with a meticulous focus on quality over quantity, Blackstock & Weber loafers are made using premium materials and a Goodyear welt construction, ensuring they are built to last. The brand’s signature is its chunky, bold silhouette, which challenges the conventional perception of a formal shoe. It’s a design that’s been dubbed “the best loafers in the world,” successfully bridging the gap between high-end quality and a contemporary, street-savvy aesthetic.

A Community of Collaboration and Influence

Since its inception, Blackstock & Weber has been a magnet for creative collaboration, partnering with some of the most influential names in fashion and culture. These partnerships are a testament to the brand’s versatility and its ability to connect with a diverse audience. Some notable collaborations include:

  • J. Crew: A partnership that brought the brand’s unique style to a wider audience, with styles selling out instantly.
  • Sperry: Chris Echevarria was named guest Creative Director for Sperry, where he reimagined the classic American boat shoe, blending his modern vision with a heritage icon.
  • Billionaire Boys Club’s Bee Line: A collaboration with Pharrell Williams’s label, blending Blackstock & Weber’s classic aesthetic with the vibrant, imaginative world of streetwear.
  • Kith and JJJJound: Highly sought-after collaborations that further solidified the brand’s status within the exclusive world of modern menswear.

Beyond its collaborations, Blackstock & Weber is also at the forefront of the “Black Preppy” movement, celebrating a cultural renaissance that merges traditional preppy styles with the unique confidence and creativity of Black culture. As a proud Black-owned business, the brand serves as a powerful source of inspiration, proving that authenticity, passion, and a commitment to craftsmanship can redefine an entire category.

Blackstock & Weber isn’t just selling shoes; it’s selling an ideology. It’s about creating classic, timeless pieces that allow every man to express his own personal style and write his own story, one confident step at a time.
