Get ready to mark your calendars, because Blacktoberfest™ is back for its monumental SIXTH YEAR! Hosted by Proximity Brewing Company—Durham’s first Black-owned brewery—this isn’t just a festival; it’s a powerful, immersive celebration of beer, food, art, and entertainment that has become a premier cultural movement in the Triangle and beyond.
The Ultimate Block Party in Old East Durham
You are officially invited to join us on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, as we transform Garland Court in Old East Durham (491 S Driver St.) into the biggest block party of the season. With our brewery and taproom now in full swing, we’re ready for an even bigger and better unforgettable weekend of festivities.
Blacktoberfest™ is fundamentally powered by Black-owned and BIPOC collaborations, blending culture, community, and the finest craft beverages. Created by Mike Potter of Black Brew Culture and Proximity Brewing Company, the event is designed to spotlight the genius and flavor that Black brewers, artists, and entrepreneurs bring to the industry.
What to Expect: A Feast for the Senses
This year, we are proud to showcase an incredible lineup, reflecting the growth and diversity of the movement:
- The Brews & Spirits: Sample from 20 unique breweries and collaborators, including an impressive selection of Black-owned wine and spirits brands. Whether you’re a seasoned craft beer aficionado or simply looking for your new favorite drink, the variety will be unmatched. General Admission tickets include a commemorative tasting glass and unlimited 5 oz. pours from participating partners!
- Food, Art & Vendors: Explore the offerings of over 30 incredible food and retail vendors and food trucks. This is your chance to support local Black and BIPOC businesses while enjoying culinary experiences, distinctive art, and unique retail finds.
- Live Entertainment: The full entertainment stage will feature non-stop live bands and DJs, creating a vibrant atmosphere that truly captures the spirit of the Bull City.

The main event on Saturday is the centerpiece, but the celebration extends across the weekend for those looking for an even deeper experience:
