With a career defined by a commitment to comprehensive, compassionate care, Dr. Spencer brings a unique blend of surgical excellence, advanced training, and patient-centered philosophy to her practice.
A native of Chicago and raised in Atlanta, Dr. Spencer’s journey in medicine began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Norfolk State University. She then returned to her roots to earn her Doctor of Medicine from the prestigious Morehouse School of Medicine.
After graduating, she completed a rigorous general surgery residency at Grady Memorial Hospital, one of the busiest Level I trauma centers in the Southeast. This intensive experience provided her with a robust foundation in surgical practice and patient care. Following her residency, Dr. Spencer was awarded the highly competitive Susan G. Komen-sponsored Breast Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
At the top-ranked cancer center in the nation, she was exposed to a wealth of advanced techniques in breast surgical oncology, including oncoplastics and cutting-edge cancer research. This fellowship solidified her expertise in a truly multidisciplinary model of care. The approach, which she champions to this day, integrates primary care, medical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, and pathology to create a single, cohesive, and patient-centered plan: “One patient, One place, One plan!”
Dr. Spencer’s commitment extends far beyond the operating room. While at MD Anderson, she further developed her passion for promoting breast cancer awareness through community outreach, advocacy, and education, a key component of her Susan G. Komen fellowship. Her philosophy is simple and powerful: provide breast care with “Dignity and Detail.”
Today, she offers 100% breast services to women, men, and adolescents.
